Definition of psychedelic

psychedelicadjective

ảo giác

/ˌsaɪkəˈdelɪk//ˌsaɪkəˈdelɪk/

Hofmann combined the Greek words "psyche," meaning mind or soul, with "delos," meaning manifest or revealed. He felt that the substances he was studying had the ability to reveal new insights and perspectives to the mind, and thus the term "psychedelic" was born. The term gained widespread use in the 1960s during the counterculture movement, and has since become synonymous with the exploration of expanded consciousness and alternative states of perception.
