Her many films, in which she also danced and sang, included Curly Top (1935), Heidi (1937) and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1938). She was later, under her married name of Shirley Temple Black, an active Republican politician. She was appointed as a US representative to the United Nations (1969) and as ambassador to Ghana (1974-6) and Czechoslovakia (1989-92).
