Introduce
This is a game to learn basic English vocabulary in a fun way. On the first screen you have to match the pictures with words. On the second screen you have to click the button to show parts of the image and then click on the matching word.
The aim of this game is to present words, images and sounds in an engaging way. Students can look at the pictures and use them to infer meaning. They then matched this with text and audio. In doing this, it is hoped that learners will be able to associate images (and meanings) with words and sounds. To continue the game, it is necessary to move or click the words that match the picture. So, to a certain extent, it is necessary to learn/know vocabulary in order to progress. Although it is possible to progress simply by guessing or by luck, I think that playing that way would be pointless and not very enjoyable. In general, I think it is necessary to have some familiarity with the vocabulary used - perhaps to know at least a few items. I don't think students will benefit much if they come to the cold and clueless vocab. Instead, I think it's best for students to be at least familiar with the content. That way, vocabulary items they already know can be reinforced, while a few items they don't know can be introduced. Or better yet, if students already know all the vocabulary, they can review or reinforce the content
This game is really 2 mini games. In the first part, you are presented with 8 pictures and 8 words. You have to rearrange these words so that the words match the pictures. When you match a pair, a tick will appear and the sound of the word will play. Once you have matched all the items, you proceed to the next game. The second mini-game involves a large image hidden behind 16 squares. You can display these squares individually by clicking the lightening button. Doing this repeatedly will slowly show the image. Once you have an idea of what the picture might be, you can click one of the buttons at the bottom to guess the right word. If you guess correctly, your score will increase, while if you guess wrong, you will lose points. More importantly, your score increases more as you reveal fewer squares. So in general you should reveal a smaller number of squares before guessing. There are also bonuses that you can use to help guess the picture. Rewards do different things, but include one that shows the entire image in a split second and another that shows a square horizontal bar. You only get one of each bonus per round, so you should use them wisely
The content used in this game is selected on the second screen. There are about 30 sets of content that cover a lot of basic language vocabulary - things like food, clothes, jobs, colors and more. Each set has 10-35 items; However, not all items can be used for any set you choose. This content list is available upon request.
