Monster Phrases

Introduce

This is a game to learn simple English phrases. You look at the picture and then click on the words to form a matching sentence. To score you have to watch the ball and click on the words at the exact moment the ball stops.

The aim of the game is to provide students with practice and exposure to simple English sentences. Meaning is conveyed through images and the use of words to form sentences creates a connection between words and meanings. To complement this, sound is also played when the correct words are clicked. It is hoped that hearing sounds can also form associations between the sound of words and the meaning and text.

The first screen you see is the title screen. Here you can choose to play the game or just review the phrases. The next screen allows you to choose the type of sentence to practice. There are 28 different sets to choose from and each set has 20 different length phrases. The review screen is quite simple: it displays images and text. You can click the audio button to hear the text being read.

The game consists of two parts: the main part and the quick review part. In the main section, you'll see an image, a hidden line of text, and a few options. You have to look at the picture and then choose the options to form an appropriate sentence correctly. The important part of the game is the movement of the ball. Observe the ball closely and try to click the words at the moment the ball stops on the empty text frame. If you time it just right, then you will score points. The monsters will give you feedback on how well you are doing in this. You can simply skip the ball and just click on the correct words; However, the real game is about getting the right words at the right time.
